Overactive Bladder

Treatment for Overactive Bladder

Overactive bladder is common with nearly one in six adults—and one in three women over the age of 40—experiencing symptoms. Urgency, frequency, and concern over leaks can disrupt your life, your sleep, and your confidence.

At Concept Wellness, we offer hope and relief—with gentle but highly effective treatments. We offer both Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) with the Dolphin Neurostim tool; or Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) with electrostim.

Dolphin Treatment

Dolphin Neurostim MPS is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy in which we apply microcurrents to key acupuncture, trigger, and neuro-fascial points. Penetrating deep in the body, these microcurrents soften scars, release restrictive adhesions, calm the nervous system, improve circulation, and strengthen pelvic muscles.

In this way, we get at the root causes to curb overactive bladder reflexes and support stable bladder function. Many patients experience relief in three to five sessions.

It’s a gentle, painless treatment that can prove highly liberating, freeing you from the sudden and frequent need to urinate. No more medications to take, pads to buy, or physical therapy to pursue.

Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation

Concept Wellness also offers Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS), using mild electrical impulses that to stimulate the sacral nerve plexus in the ankle. This nerve center controls the bladder.

We insert a thin needle near the ankle; it is connected to an electrostim device. You will feel a pulsing, tingling or vibrating sensation in the foot or leg; it is painless and many patients find it relaxing.

Sending electrical impulses to the sacral nerves calms the overactive bladder. Indeed, 80 percent of patients experience relief, many of whom have tried medication and other therapies without success. Our patients often see results within __ sessions.

PTNS is gentle and has no side effects. It is appropriate for most our patients with a few exceptions. Those who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment; people with implantable defibrillators or tibial nerve damage; and those prone to excessive bleeding are not eligible. Patients with pacemakers should consult with their doctors before starting treatment.
